Chilled water issues

A cooling water closed loop is installed in the production plant

The cooling water is used for cooling different parts of the equipment that is used in the plant.

There are two main parameters of the water: pH and conductivity. Both parameters are controlled and should be kept within certain limits.

Typically the pH of the water slightly decreases. This is compensated by adding a small amount of NaOH.

Suddenly pH started to reduce faster than usual. The compensation requested much more amount of NaOH which may result in a strong increase in the conductivity.

A regular audit showed that some flanges are affected by strong corrosion as shown below:

This project involves the study of polyspherene nanospheres deposited on PDMS (Polydimethylsiloxane) samples. The PDMS samples have undergone a mechanical rubbing process for various durations to create surface patterns. Following this, the samples were subjected to a sputtering process in a clean room environment to coat them with polyspherene nanospheres. The primary objective of the project is to achieve a dense and uniform layer of polyspherene nanospheres on the PDMS substrates. This dense coating is crucial for the intended applications of these nanospheres in fields such as nanoelectronics, biomedical devices, and surface coatings. Despite the systematic approach, the SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) images reveal that the polyspherene nanospheres are not achieving the desired dense packing. Instead, the nanospheres appear to be sparsely distributed, with noticeable gaps between them, which undermines the effectiveness and uniformity required for their applications.

In past decades, polymeric micropillar devices have gained a great deal of attention in micro and nano technology research as the result of their potential and practical usage in many applications. This project is going to deal with the process of how to fabricate the magnetic micropillars, from the beginning – the planning and design, improving the existing process, lithography to create the base silicon mold and then creating the PDMS pillars that contains nano magnetic particles of Fe_3 O_4, the process today is not efficient enough in terms of cost and time and we are wishing to improve it, in the end we will have a device with micro-pillars that can move correspondingly to external magnetic field which will help us to do many advanced experiments in the biology field like using the device for cell stimulation.
